The theme for the 2022 festival is “See the Story, Be the Story.” This call for empathy, togetherness and personal storytelling activates the festival’s mission of bringing together films and film makers with diverse points of view to celebrate difference and honor our shared humanity. Untold stories are the heart of this festival. As an organization routed in the intersectionality and diversity of the disability community, we truly believe that every person, every body has a story worth telling. Our 2022 festival theme touches on the importance of seeing reflections of your own story in film and media.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Artists from LADD partnered with Happen Inc.’s Breadwinners, an earn-and-learn program where teens meet weekly to share a meal, design and print their own t-shirts, and learn the basics of screen printing and running a small business. They met several times this spring to brainstorm ideas and consolidate the favorites into final design options. The final designs were then voted on by LADD artists and the OTR Film Festival Marketing Committee.
The Breadwinners are printing the t-shirts to earn money and will give a portion of the proceeds to support community-identified needs. We can’t wait to display their awesome art at the festival this July 7-10th!
Empowering our shared humanity through stories, conversations and action.
We are a platform to see through another’s eyes. We envision a world that celebrates difference, diversity, and honors our shared humanity-a world where film and media reflect and value all.
